Filipino-Canadian artist J.A. Tan continues to captivate Manila’s art community with his solo exhibition Return & Remember: Places & Home at Gallery C, Conrad Manila. The show, part of the hotel’s Of Art and Wine series, runs through January 17, 2026, featuring 36 expressive paintings that trace memory, identity, and emotional landscapes across the places that have shaped Tan’s life and artistic vision. As The Daily Tribune describes it, the exhibit is “a deeply personal exploration of memory, belonging and identity,” where Tan’s abstract expressionist style “transcends geography and language” to connect with viewers on an emotional level. (Tribune) Meanwhile, The Manila Times notes that the collection presents “memory, emotion, and the landscapes that shaped Tan’s artistic journey,” bringing to life scenes from cities like Vancouver, Manila, and Florence. For Tan, art is both devotion and reflection. In a recent BusinessMirror feature he shared, “Each image speaks of a moment, a place, or a feeling that resonates deeply within me… These paintings bring together fragments of memory, allowing me to understand and share my personal narrative.” (BusinessMirror) GMA Network also highlights how the exhibit celebrates his vibrant, expressive works as a powerful example of representation for artists on the autism spectrum.
